Boosting Confidence, One Dress At At Time.

Over the past 10 years, I have been the manager and the dress specialist at Frankie’s on the Park in Chicago, IL. There is no better job in the world, because I get to make girls happy and feel special all day, everyday!  While I love seeing the different cute outfits the girls dress in, seeing the smile on their faces when they walk out of the dressing room and twirl in front of the mirror with confidence, is one of my favorite things in the world.  In a fashion industry that promotes unrealistic body images, it is hard for young girls to feel confident when that is all they’re seeing. But when they walk into Frankie’s on the Park and they find exactly what they are looking for, they feel like the most special girl in the world, no matter their size; it is the greatest feeling! It is my job to teach these girls to be confident whether they are wearing sweatpants or a beautiful dress. The words big for her age or small for her age don’t exist at Frankie’s in terms of sizing - it is finding each individual girl’s perfect size that is important.    

The girls all book their Bat Mitzvah dress appointments with me and I love nothing more then when they say “yes to the dress” and their whole face lights up. Although it is such an insecure age in their lives, I get to see the big Girl Power moment when she puts on a beautiful dress that she wants to wear on one of the most important and special nights of her young life. It is then that all of those stressful feelings of insecurity go away, and I am so lucky I get to witness it. My tip to girls of any age is dress in what you like and what makes you feel good and special; don’t let other girls on Instagram or TikTok dictate your style. You do you better than anyone else can!
