Megan Shares Passion and How She Juggles Social Life & Her Professional Passions (16 years old)
I truly believe in taking action, and the fact that one’s dreams are 100% obtainable as long as one puts in the work and dedication to his/her craft. As a high school student, others can easily underestimate me or I can focus all of my time on having fun, which is the common thing to do. However, as much as I love my friends and spending time with them, I do not want to waste my passion and the years of work I have dedicated to improving my graphic design, videography, and communication skills. Therefore, it is so important to maintain a realistic balance between working towards my goals and spending time with my loved ones.
I have been creating content on my YouTube channel (youtube.com/meganchan) and Instagram page (instagram.com/meghchan) for over two years now, but ever since I was in elementary school, I have created videos out of pure passion and joy. When I was in the fourth grade, I would gather random items from around the house, film a “haul” of myself describing the products, edit the video, and send it in a group chat to my friends. Today, I post videos about my life, style, and everyday experiences, but I am aiming to slightly change my videos by creating them based on my goals and achievements. My main goal for my YouTube channel is to be able to inspire teens and young people through the work that I do, while they still feel as though they can relate to me.
Recently, I started taking freelancing quite seriously during quarantine by developing content for brands and companies, all while still creating videos and photos for my own social media channels. I am not exactly sure what I want to study in college, but I do know that my major is almost guaranteed to revolve around my passion for content creation and my entrepreneurial mindset. My productivity has greatly improved during the past few months since I have been utilizing to-do lists and established routine activities such as refreshing my Poshmark/Depop items every morning.
I hope that someday I will be able to read back on this blog post and realize that I have worked hard enough to achieve my goals and dreams. I encourage you to do the same. You are loved, worthy, and hardworking! Keep a positive and motivated mindset, and you will be able to truly make your dreams come true (as cliché as it sounds).
“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.” — Greg Reid
